"Fun," I squeaked out, desperately trying to hold back the pain. "She was very fun. Loving and care free. She had no ambition or ulterior motives. Coffee just enjoyed life. And for a time, we enjoyed it together. I will never forget her. This room holds some memories, but I'll be keeping those in my heart from here on. I'm fine with you taking her room, Mixi."
"Thank you," the Divinifae said as she climbed up onto the mattress to test it. Kneeling there, she smiled and said, "this will be the nicest bed that I have ever had. But I must insist that you visit me here and tell me more about your time in this room with Coffee."
"I would love to come visit," I told her. And that statement couldn't be more accurate. "But much of our time together here was spent making love. I'm not sure that you..."
"I want to hear all about it," Mixi told me. “This making love you refer to is an intimate sexual relationship, is it not?”
I stood there slack jawed for a moment. I never had a woman tell me that she wanted to hear about my sexual escapades with another woman before. I wasn't sure what to make of it.
"Perhaps before you two get so involved that Mixi enlarges her vagina," Aeren interrupted. "Can we see the rest of this flying cave?"
"I didn't mean it like that," the blue fairy girl said as she used her wings briefly to levitate off the bed then drop to the floor. "I would never push myself ahead like that. I'm sure Kash has all he needs already in the sexual department."
I didn't know about that. Sure, I had more than any man deserved, and more than most men could even dream about. Yet, there was always room for more. There had to eventually be a limit to how much my lovers were willing to share me. But in my mind, there is only one way to find that out.
"This is the galley," I said as I stepped into the central room. "This is where we eat and have group meetings."
Cinnamon was the only one in the room at the moment. Out of hospitality she stood and offered her hand to each newcomer. They each took it with both of their hands in turn looking genuinely pleased to make her acquaintance. I could see our newest arrivals working their way into the hearts of our crew quickly.
"I believe that I owe you my life," Cinnamon said to Mixi while they were still in contact. "Thank you very much."
"You are welcome," the blue fairy girl replied with a respectful nod, looking suddenly shy. That was kind of weird just after asking me to share intimate details of my sexual activity with the late Coffee. I also noticed that she did not deny saving my girl's life.
"When you are hungry, I can show you how to operate the food processors," Cinnamon told them, gesturing toward the wall to our left. There a bank of controls and windows resembled a row of lunchroom vending machines.
"I'm not very good at it yet," I said.
"They are not difficult to learn," Cinny told the new girls. "Kash just likes me to fetch his food for him."
"He speaks so fondly of you," Aeren told her. "As does Honeysuckle. We feel like we know you already."
"I have a question," Mixi spoke up. "Will Aeren and I be assigned new scents?"
The question confused Cinnamon and me, but Aeren must have known exactly what she meant. The tall lean alien glanced back and forth between us expecting an answer.
"You all smell so wonderful," Mixi explained, referring mostly to the women of the ship I was sure. "Your sweet spiciness. The doctor's soothing mellow scent. Honeysuckle's blossoming flower aroma. Even the one with the red hair and large buttocks smells sweet, but more like food."
I chuckled at Mixi's reference to Strawberry having a large ass. It wasn't all that big really. Similar to Vanilla's and certainly smaller than Sage's. But everyone else aboard were petite in comparison. Some more than others.
"Those scents are body modifications," Cinnamon explained. "I received mine the same time as my skin variations and ever-changing fingernails." She then held out the back of her hands for closer examination. The hard surfaces that extended beyond the tip of her fingers slowly changed from light blue to white as we watched.
"Fascinating," Aeren said with all sincerity. I was sure there would be a lot of things that would delight and surprise her over the next few days. "How do we get ours?"
Cinnamon laughed before answering. I could tell that she was struggling with how to word it. Since my knowledge was limited, I decided to say nothing.
"They were made by a doctor when I turned eighteen years old," she explained. "A specialist. This isn't something that Vanilla can do. And I'm not sure if we'll be able to find someone willing to perform the surgical treatment on either of you since you are not human."
"I see," Aeren responded with obvious disappointment.
"You are both so beautiful and unique," Cinnamon told her. "Very special in your own ways. Surely you know that. Neither of you need body modifications in the least. Human girls do it because they think their natural bodies are too boring. That is clearly not the case with you."
The compliment was taken well, but the conversation sort of stalled after that. So, I continued the tour by showing them the control room. Strawberry and Honeysuckle were both there and welcomed the two aliens without hesitation. I thought maybe the redhead would take issue with it, but she did not.
"Wow," Aeren said as she glanced at the active screens. "What are these for?"
"We use them to control the ship and monitor its performance," Strawberry explained like she was hosting an elementary school tour group.
"How?"
Strawberry demonstrated by tapping her screen and scrolling through some reports and images. Then she used a virtual keyboard to type in instructions.
"We are hoping that the two of you would be interested in joining us long term," Strawberry told them with a glance toward me. "Would you like that?"
Aeren nodded excitedly, "Yes, very much."
"In time," I said. "You could each sit at one of these stations and perform specific duties to help out. You'll be legitimate members of the crew."
"That is very generous of you," the alien elf woman replied. "And exciting. However, I'm not sure that we will be up to the task. This is all very strange to us."
"We know that," I said. "You can start with simple tasks. And there is plenty of training courses through the tablet that I showed you. I'm sure that you'll learn fast."
"It seems to me," Aeren said hesitantly. "The first thing that we'll need to learn is all these little symbols that you use. There are so many of them."
Strawberry and I stared at each other in disbelief. I declared that these were both intelligent women, just from another culture. Their manner of speech supported my claim.
"Are you telling me that you can't read English? I mean Galactic Standard?"
Strawberry was as shocked as me. "You speak it so well. But no worries. We'll just feed your written language into the computer and it will translate for you. It will slow the process down, but not prevent it."
Aeren and Mixi stared at each other for a moment. Then with embarrassment prevalent in their body language, Aeren revealed, "We do not have a written language."
CHAPTER THREE:
After both Aeren and Mixi moved into their newly assigned quarters Cinnamon provided them with their first assignment. She insisted that they be clothed while roaming the ship from here on. Between spare uniforms left in Coffee's and Sage's rooms they had plenty of material to work with. The girls would just need to cut and restitch the material to fit their smaller and ultra slim bodies. Though they had never made clothing before, the technique was similar to several things that they were used to making in their cavernous city.
Strawberry changed the code on the lock that held Sage in her cage. She also upped the security measure by requiring a retinal scan from either me or herself in combination with the new code. That should prevent our former leader from hacking her way out or convincing another person onboard to release her.
Teddy was unusually delighted when he received news that he could now sleep in Sage's old room. Nearly as well
received was notification that Aeren was going to make a new set of clothes for him. The makeshift duds that he had been wearing daily were not all that well fitting. The new girls promised that the uniform they would have for him soon would not only match everyone else but also fit snugly to the unique shape of his small teddy bear build.
I was in the process of getting my little friend familiar with how to manipulate his personal tablet computer when Strawberry called me to the control room. She sounded as if it were of urgent concern.
"What's up?" I asked as I hurriedly stepped up beside her. She was in the captain's chair once again with an image taking up the majority of her screen. Down the right side and along the bottom was a lot of detailed information, some of which I actually understood.
The image was of a spaceship. And it wasn’t ours.
Though it was difficult to judge scale the craft was similar in shape to our own ship. Extended out each side of the hull were devices that I was not familiar with yet. They almost looked like thrusters for going backwards.
"Where is it?" was my first question.
"It is still millions of kilometers away," Strawberry informed me. "It just reentered our space from rip-jump. They probably haven't spotted us yet since our engines are powered down."
"Who are they?"
"That's a good question, Kash. I can't say for sure, but I'm assuming they are with whatever company wants this planet hidden from the maps. Did anyone tell you the situation with this star system?"
"Yes," I answered. "It was categorized as having no planets of value mistakenly. Sage believed a company was trying to hide it from competitors. I remember the girls saying that one of these ships coming by would be our best chance of rescue."
"Maybe, maybe not," Strawberry replied. "But that doesn't matter anymore. We don't need rescued."
I watched as the numbers continued to stream across the lower section of her screen. Triangulation data. Our computer was tracking the ship's movement. When an alert came up, Strawberry tapped a virtual button on the screen to change the main view window. The image of the ship disappeared and was replaced with a map of the star system. A pulsing line showed the trajectory of the incoming spacecraft. It was headed right for us.
"What should we do?" I asked, unable to conceal my concern. I immediately regretted it. So far I only had questions and Strawberry had the answers. That could give her the upper hand in this partnership. If at all possible it was my goal to never let her be the heroine again. I was eternally grateful for her role in rescuing me and Honey from the cave women. Now freed I was determined to be the only hero that these lovely women would ever need.
"It depends on if they are hostile," she replied. The apprehension never left her voice. It was more than just her normal professionalism. She was legitimately worried. I needed to exude confidence for the sake of the crew, and to maintain an upper hand. Unfortunately, I knew too little to be able to do that at the moment.
"If they find us here," I said as I straightened my back. Strawberry looked up to me as she listened to what I had to say. Honey turned from her position to face me as well. This is exactly what I wanted. "And they are with a devious company, they will be upset that we discovered their hidden gem. Us revealing their deception could cost them a lot of money."
"Probably more than we will ever see in our lifetimes," Strawberry responded. "It depends on what they are extracting from the planet. From our limited experience there, it could be any number of things. It would take a company years to research all the possible uses for everything found on dragon world."
"Can we outrun them?" I asked.
"Outrun?"
"Can we travel faster than them?" I rephrased.
"Not likely," my berry flavored partner replied. She referred back to the screen's data. "They are a class M vessel. Twice our size and probably faster and more agile than us. Our only chance of getting away from them will be to rip-jump before they get close."
"Are we ready to do that?" I asked, excited to have a quick solution to the problem.
"The ship is ready," Honeysuckle answered with a glance toward Strawberry.
"That would require a skilled navigations specialist," Strawberry informed me, looking a bit defeated. That was not something that I was used to seeing from her. Not since the first day that I met her when she finally returned from being lost among the dragons for days. "I'm not even twenty percent of the way through the minimal amount of training required to make a safe jump."
"What is the danger if they do find us here?" I asked. "Can they use a tractor beam and board us?"
"I do know what a tractor beam is," Strawberry replied as she returned the image of the ship to the main screen. "But these two protrusions on the side of their ship are weapons. If they get close enough to fire those accurately, we can be immobilized if not destroyed."
"We need Sage," Honeysuckle insisted. "I don't want to survive dragon world and the cave of monster bitches just to die in space before I can even tell anyone my story."
I was dead set against that. I thought Strawberry would be, too. Instead, completely lacking confidence in herself she said, "she might be right."
"No," I told them sternly. "There has to be another way. Not only can we not rely on her anymore, we can't allow her access to the ship's computer. I'm not taking any chances on her fucking up our plan. No. We figure a way out of this ourselves."
We stared at each other for a moment. I could see that they both wanted me to reconsider letting Sage handle the navigation controls to get us out of here. But I was thinking about our other options.
"You say they haven't noticed us yet because our engines are powered down. Can we just hide here in plain view that way?"
"Their scanners will find us eventually," Strawberry said with a shake of her head. Red hair bounced around then settled back into perfect form. "If they head to this planet, they'll see us for sure. We didn't get far enough away yet."
"What is the danger of letting the computer handle the entire rip-jump process?" I asked.
"Nobody does that!" both girls responded vehemently.
"Why?"
"Because our lives are at risk if we do," Strawberry answered, obviously shocked that I would even suggest such a thing.
I walked to the front of the control room and sat down in the pilot's seat. Honey was still to my left and Strawberry behind me in the raised captain's chair. I needed to figure a way out of this mess. I pulled up a map of the star system then zoomed in to view just our area.
"Can you get me a navigation point beyond that moon over there?" I asked.
"Yes, I can do that much already," Strawberry answered, but she didn't sound happy about it. "They'll spot us right away then. And they'll be able to see where we are going. However, once behind the moon we won't be able to track their movement. If they pursue, they might be able to fire at us before we can move again."
"Well, we can't stay here," I told them as I brought up the pilot control screens that I needed. "Send me the ordinates and I'll get us behind cover."
"Cover?"
"Hidden," I clarified. "Then Strawberry, you learn the specifics for ripping us a hole out of this system while we wait to see how they respond."
"I'm not comfortable with this plan," Strawberry told me. She sounded as if she just might refuse to follow my instructions.
"Me either," Honeysuckle added. That wasn't good. I couldn't lose two supporters in this attempt to be a hero. "We should get Cinnamon in here before we decide."
"Have I ever steered you wrong, Honey?" I asked. I was essentially demanding her obedience. This was a make-or-break moment. If she didn't fall in line with my plan the girls were going to follow the more knowledgeable redhead instead of me.
"No," she replied softly as she peered into my eyes. I got the impression that she knew what I was doing and what was being held in the balance of her actions. "What can I do?"
"You track that ship while Strawberry and I work together to get u
s behind that moon," I told my green-skinned lover. "Powering up!"
"I have a nav-point for you Kash," the redhead said. "It will keep us hidden until the ship gets close to the planet. Anything closer to the moon will have us affected by its gravitational pull. We won't be able to power down unless we maintain some distance from it."
"Okay," I replied as I punched my fingers at my display screen to go as quickly as possible through the mandatory checklist. "Let's do this!"
"Do what?" Cinnamon asked in near panic as she entered the control room behind me. "I felt the engines power up. What is going on?"
"There is a ship coming toward us," Strawberry explained while I focused on my job. "Kash is going to move us behind the closest moon and we'll hope they don't follow."
